Carven simply makes cool clothes. There's something nerdy chic about this collection but in muted palettes and longer hems, it doesn't look or feel like a school uniform.

This is my first official outfit post from Pennsylvania and rather appropriately the photos were taken by one of my roommates and on the roof of the house I live in now. When I was younger I wanted a rooftop I could climb out on to during hot evenings; to read a bit perhaps in the breeze, or just lay on my back and stare at the stars separated from the world passing below.

American Idol’s Jessica Sanchez sang last night wearing a beautiful purple gown by Oliver Tolentino. The talented half-Filipina singer stuck to her roots by wearing the designer who also is from the Philippines.

Sidewalls (or Madianeras, the original Spanish title) is a quirky romantic film well suited for this modern age of cyber life and isolation within crowded cities. It follows the distinctly similar but not overlapping lives of Martin, a web designer and Mariana, an architect who designs window displays and their neuroses and quiet lives in Buenos Aires.

As I was packing to move up to PA I put this dress aside to put in storage with winter things and vintage pieces I need to replace the zippers on and other odd bits that I don't need to have around this summer. After I packed my car full of the things I do want to have this summer I had few options left to wear and ended up throwing this dress on.

It's interesting how sometimes simple things when collected together develop a strange alchemy. Skeleton keys, arrows, tree stumps, and constellation mugs seem to mean so much more when drawn by Alice Ferrow...

It's a bit autumnal for the season, but I can't get enough of the victory curls and pretty patterns and and layers in this editorial. I do enjoy the mix of retro and modern.

The place I'll probably miss the most in Virginia is this little corner by the James River. The sun setting on the water on low tide and placid nights was particularly lovely. It was always a quiet spot--the path to this small beach is hidden from the road so almost no one knows it is here.

Spring is here and Summer is just around the corner.  Festival season is upon us and vintage fashion has never been hotter.

Hi, I'm Katrina and I blog at Pugly Pixel. Here's a short tutorial that shows you how to create black and white photos with areas of color that catch the eye. If you're a fashion blogger, this technique is especially good for photos with a very busy background.

I tend to be a minimalist when it comes to editing my pictures, but I've been meaning to experiment more. Today though Katrina of Pugly Pixel edited a few of my pictures, turning the background black and white and really making my outfit pop. This afternoon we're posting a tutorial on how to edit your own pictures this way, so stay tuned for that.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day.  My day began with my 2 year old twins singing "You Are My Sunshine" to me; my heart just melted.  They are adorable and I love, love, love being a mom. :-)

This dress hasn't gotten much wear this year, but it's still one of my favorites--I can't imagine getting rid of it. It's from ASOS, but as you can tell from the pictures deep in my archives, it's quite old.
