  • Best budgeting app! 5 Stars

I’ve tried a bunch of different budgeting apps over the years... like all of them. I was originally turned off because of the price, I wanted it to be free, but sometimes you get what you pay for. It took me a year before I tried it. I never should have waited! Try it if the full 34 day free period. Seriously! It takes a bit to get the hang of because it’s a little different in theory but within your first pay cycle you’ll understand it. Give yourself a month and it becomes very intuitive. I look back at my other apps and they were bulky and difficult. This is streamlined and simple. I’m loving this app!

I can say so many great things about YNAB and how helpful it’s been for our family’s budget. The iPad app especially is easy to use, customer service is human and always friendly, and there’s a helpful community at your finger tips if you have questions. The app itself is so much better than the one on a phone. It’s easier to add accounts, move money from category to category, and budget month to month. I only gave it four stars because it’s missing two incredibly important features that the web app has: searching and reports. If you want to look at say, how much you spent at Starbucks for the year, you can’t search at all on the app. This is a really basic feature and not having it on here is especially frustrating (you can’t access the web app through Chrome on the iPad either, it automatically redirects you to the iPad app). Since there’s a yearly cost to use the program I’d expect the app and web app to have identical features.
  • Does not update in real time

Doesn’t update to your linked accounts in real time so it makes it very confusing when trying to budget in real time. Also, the way they handle credit card accounts is absolutely confusing. They don’t show as a debt (which it need to be paid back so it should, yes?) it shows as a positive and just messes everything up. It’s nice that it links to all of your accounts so ideally you have a gross amount of your money, but it doesn’t translate that easily.
  • Takes Way Too Long to Update

I think the premise behind YNAB is great and I was eager to try it out. My problem with the app is that it just takes way too long to update. I got paid last Thursday and was excited to start the new month with a new budget. But my paycheck didn’t show on the app until Saturday, almost a full 48 hours after I actually got paid. The app also wants you to allocate EVERY dollar that shows, including income, which can be difficult to figure out. I clearly classified something wrong because the amount remaining the be budgeted was way off so I “started fresh” with a new budget. I did that Saturday and as of Tuesday at 5pm, my accounts and transactions still have not updated 😡. I really want to love this app and use it, but it’s got to update more frequently in order for it to actually be effective. It doesn’t help to create a budget AFTER you’ve already paid your bills 😕
  • Love this app, but one thing missing

YNAB is an excellent platform for budgeting. The one thing I wish the app had, though, was an extra layer of authentication (i.e passcode, password and/or Touch ID to open app) If I happen to leave my phone sitting around unlocked — an unlikely scenario, but still possible — I don’t want someone to be able to just open YNAB and look through my transactions and other financial info. Every other financially-related app I have has this feature. I don’t understand why YNAB doesn’t. Seems like a pretty easy thing to integrate.
  • One app worth paying for

This is such a lovely financial philosophy which is often overlooked by young ppl during their early ages. Once, I got onto this app I realized the value of spending less than you earn effectively and planning for it. This app has the potential to make you think about the long term and worth paying for!

I credit this app with helping me get a grip on my finances, and I sing its praises every day. I was doing okay before, but using YNAB has made me much more intentional with my money. I don’t wonder where money has gone between pay days, have put together an emergency fund and have been able to refocus my finances. Thank you!

This is a budgeting app and I’m supposed to pay for it? Mint and Personal Capital are free.

I absolutely LOVE this app. I will admit, when I first started using YNAB it took me a little bit to get the hang of it, primarily the desktop version and then the app, but once I did, it was so worth it. YNAB is the most efficient and comprehensive budgeting software I’ve used and I absolutely love it. The app is super easy to use and when there are minor issues, they make sure to roll out updates promptly. Improve your budgeting today and get YNAB!

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled. This version of the app is broken and doesn’t work.
