  • Best Japanese Role-Playing App

I love to read, and manga is just one among the many reading materials I frequently use. Before, I have had several “Shall We Date?” apps downloaded, but “Dear Otome,” in my opinion, is no doubt the best although “best” might be an underrated and too much of a broad term to use to describe this app. I am, by no means, plainly praising the developers. I am just stating the fact based on my past experiences with similar role-playing apps made by NTT Solmare. I find that “Dear Otome” is very efficient; this app packages six completely different stories into one where instead of having to download separate apps like before, one can simply read six different stories and switch to another as he or she pleases. Moreover, the developers were considerate enough to create a place which stores the stories the reader has currently read. Efficiency aside, the overall designs are very attractive. “Cute” isn’t necessarily the word, but simply the reader will feel attracted to what’s in store. In my opinion, I feel as if there are a few “Shall We Date?” apps which appear a bit outdated in terms of being modern iOS apps, which they should be, and computer graphics to name a feel; however, “Dear Otome” is the opposite of that, and as I’ve already said, the most outstanding app by NTT Solmare as of now. The app itself isn’t slow at all, and its appearance and fan service* truly define it as a modern product of Japanese pop culture. When I say fan service, I am referring to how thoughtful the developers were when they created this app. Everything can be found easily. There are literally instructions for everything. Even if one already knows how something works, for example, a checkpoint in a chapter, it will remind the reader again with the simplest and most courteous steps. Not to mention, since there are a variety of stories to choose from and especially when one is new to NTT Solmare’s “Shall We Date?” series, a small personality quiz is always available for the reader to take to help guide the reader into finding out which character matches the reader’s description of an ideal man, from which story is he from, and which story is the reader recommended to read first. On top of that, a “top hottest male characters” ranking chart can be found in the home screen of “Dear Otome” which the reader might find helpful in finding a new favorite “boyfriend”. Oh, and did I mention music? Indeed, one will easily get used to this app since it is very relaxing and user friendly enough to even have cute, catchy, elevator-like tunes installed for each and every story depending on the story. There are so much more that I can talk about, but other users might have to experience this app themselves to fully understand all of its amazing features. While using “Dear Otome,” the reader will never have a second where he or she isn’t showered with love by the app itself. Maybe the only time is when one realizes that he or she has run out of story tickets to proceed with reading and has to wait for four more hours for the next available ticket, but then again, nothing is entirely free in this world. This is as much love as one will get. I can guarantee you. So let’s show the app developers that we love them also, and we all really appreciate this wonderful app they have made for us and download “Dear Otome” today to experience a whole new world of stimulatingly realistic role playing.

I love that six games are bundle together making it easier to move between them. I would like to see that other games that I have with group added to the bundled app. Something to think about (developers) for an update.

Personally, I think that comprising the most popular games into on app was a really great idea. It helps organize and not clutter up the phone's app data with like 6 different apps.

I really like the game but it is a little annoying that you have to wait so long for more story tickets and that it only has a few seconds of content but, the stories are a lot of fun.
