  • Very Effective

    By Sara23fab
For me, learning a language with Pimsleur is the most effective way of learning to listen and speak. I try to listen intensively for the recommended 30 minutes a day, and review when I am doing things that don’t require much thought. There are many other ways out there to learn, but the fact is that I only have so much time to focus exclusively on language learning.
  • Most effective way to learn a language!

    By RouillieW
I took Japanese years ago and although I didn’t complete the course, I still remember what I learned, to this day! So now I am undertaking French, with full intent to complete the course this time around, and I find it an easy, comprehensive way to learn a language. You do it the same way you did as a child, you listen, repeat, practice and remember. Plus, there are written exercises which really help to reinforce what you’ve learned, and more. Highly recommended!
  • Beware of subscription policy

    By angrybanana91
I did not realize that I was paying for this subscription because it did not show up in my Apple subscriptions. Also I never received any notifications from Pimsleur about being charged monthly. When I realized the charges, I couldn’t figure out how to cancel the service - there is no way to do it through the app - must call customer service to cancel. They would not refund me the charges even though I haven’t used the app during that time! This is shady and unfair. Customers deserve to be notified when they are being charged, and cancellation should be easier. Other companies in my experience have offered refunds in this situation, and Pimsleur should do the same here.

  • Pimsleur German

Great overall lessons and nicely paced. Because some of the lessons include asking directions to the Post Office and asking to borrow the phone, both of which are no longer necessary really, I gave 4 stars. Otherwise, I would have rated Pimsleur 5 stars.
  • Great App so Far

    By C LaBelle
So far, really like the app and the way it structures teaching Spanish. I see reviews where people have lost all progress so I hope that bug has been fixed.
  • Go with Duolingo. App is awful. Lost all progress.

Was working fine until they did an update and lost all my progress and locked me out of the lessons. Stick with Duolingo. It’s better designed and it’s free.
  • Great way to learn a new language

It’s really sinking in. Almost subliminally.
  • Start with this app if you ever want to speak a language

    By Meags93
I learned French in high school but never read, wrote, or spoke it. I began using Duolingo in August of 2018 to see if I could remember any French and begin anew. While it helped me learn grammar and vocabulary, my pronunciation and thus my confidence for speaking wasn’t improving. I just completed the 30 lessons in level 1 and I am feeling more confident to try to speak more. I also had to re-learn proper pronunciation and this app helped me enormously with that. It also helped my listening skills so that I’m understanding more. Don’t wait. Do this app early in your learning so you don’t have to undo mistakes you’ve learned. Bonne chance!
  • Such good service!

    By Johncremer
The courses are good! I’ve taken Greek 1 + 2, Spanish 1 + 2 + 3, French 1, and it’s so good and fun and easy to do in the car. I bought French 1 and 2 a few months ago, and they had a brand new 2018 French 1, and the 2010 French 2, 3, 4, 5. I got done with the 2018 course and understood it all, but the 2010 French 2 didn’t connect with the 2018 French 1. So when they released a new 2018 French 2, I asked if I could exchange my old one for their new one. And They did! I can continue where I left off! Pimsleur is the best! Thank you Pimsleur! (I totally recommend their courses!)
