New update is nice. Fonts are bolder and it’s easier to read Paid subscriptions are still are still subject to ads. Annoying. Articles are incredibly well-written and content is excellent. No dark mode. Just bright white blinding you at night. Just a decent app.
  • App Keeps Getting Worse

Basically unusable for New Yorkers who want to read the news in the subway. After the latest update there's literally no news on the front page, just ads. And forget about offline support.
  • Not loving the new layout

My favorite app, however, I liked the previous version much better. Not an awful update, but, the other version looked and felt more like reading the actual paper. I don’t understand why developers constantly fiddle with things that already work well.
  • Where did the time stamp go?

I can’t see the time on my phone when I’m in this app anymore. This is hugely impractical! Otherwise love the app.
  • Another step backwards.

The latest update is NOT an improvement. I didn’t like the way the paper displayed on a web browser, so why should I like it that way here? I understand the desire for uniformity, but on an iPad things simply read differently; the old app did that better.
  • Dark mode needed!

Functionally, the app is great. It’s appearance is another story. Staring at all that white is exhausting. Please offer a dark mode!!

The latest update brings a nice refresh to the top stories page. Really like the new look! From a lonely outpost in Texas
  • New app doesn’t support older IPads

NYT has done a disservice to the thousands of loyal subscribers who have older IPads. Making the app “ better” has prevented access to the Times by those who have perfectly functioning but older IPads.

It’s as if they care about nothing but their money, you can’t read anything without paying. Well basically, heads up everyone, if you plan on reading more than a few paragraphs a month, I know I do, you better pull out your check book or Apple Pay, or whatever you need, because this joker cost $200, what a clear rip off, I’ll just stick to wasting trees rather than having to be charged a god£€{# good Day’s pay to read on my iPad, I’ll just stick to reading actual paper.
  • Auto play Ads? Terrible Decision

I can’t read articles on your tablet app any more due to the invasive, stupid auto play ads. Ever since the ‘90’s we’ve taught Best Practices, which include “opt-in” for ads with sound. We all know auto play is ineffective and actually drives business away from both the site with the ads and the businesses that purchase these ads. What are you doing? Drop the auto play ads from your app. You’ve rendered it unusable.
