  • Recordings don’t work anymore

    By nurse sn ash
I’ve been using this app for years for my nursing school courses. Hands down my favorite apps for taking notes and recording my lectures UNTIL... the recording function stopped working. I recorded several lectures to go back to because the were challenging for me to understand. Went back to listen to the recordings for clarification and they were 3 hours of static. Very upsetting and now I will never have those recordings again. Have to rely on another classmate for the info now. Time to try good notes.
  • so far, only one star reduction

This has been such a great app! I have tons of class notes and pics in it. And I was happy to learn that they added custom colors, and that you could (supposedly) "create paper backgrounds in any color." I've really been wanting the custom colors. Although it remains a limited option, at least they exist now. Unfortunately, the paper color backgrounds upgrade is HORRIBLE. One would think that one would go to the paper picker, and be given the opportunity to pick your own color for your paper. Unfortunately, that isn't the case. You have to draw in a square, expand it, EXPORT it as a PDF [I'm not kidding], IMPORT it, and even then, it only has that one page. You would have to redo the whole process for every page. But wait, IT GETS WORSE. When I tried to do the same thing below (on page 2), it sort of did it, but this affected page 1 and now page 1 has white parts on one side as if the color I had changed the paper to was PARTIALLY ERASED. Unbelievable. Just send me to the paper picker and let me pick a color (and a VERY SUBTLE texture picker would be nice as well). Drawing in a color, and EXPORTING as PDF, and IMPORTING again, and all that goofy wacky ERASING are crazy. Feels like a desperate (failed) workaround to a bug rather than a "feature." I don't know what to do, star-wise. This is a great app. But this upgrade is so WACKY. I'll step away for about a month. Then reevaluate the stars downward if things aren't changed. And in a way that is SENSIBLE. Update: Still wacky. I took away one more star. So from five, now down to three.
  • Please fix...

    By Topsylaye
I have now updated my app 3 times in hope of the bug issue of it taking hours to download all of my files into the app but ALAS! Here I am (not so patiently) waiting on it to download the notes I have inside of notability so I can access them. For the years I’ve had this app, this has never been an issue. What’s going on Notability? I want our relationship to be perfect and beautiful again, like it was for years... I don’t want to break up... But this might be it for us.
  • Very good app but one request!

It’s great, but I wish I could change to a thumbnail grid style list with resizable thumbnails, instead of a list with titles and a small thumbnail. I don’t often name my notes, and this would be a great way to quickly see what each note looks like without having to open it
  • Love it

I use this to take notes on all my courses, but I really wish there was a way I could open two notes at once like a split screen to develop study guides without having to switch from one note to the other.
  • Can’t copy/paste anymore

    By ellen-nd
With this latest update, you can no longer copy and paste or lasso a selection and change the color, which were two of the best features. Without them, it’s not worth the price. I’ll update the review if these issues are fixed. Update: issues are fixed in latest update
  • Love it but

    By brittanyj504
I love this app but it really needs a redo button. Sometimes I hit undo instead of the 10 sec rewind button. And when that happens I have to go even further back to retype whatever I erased. No longer have the ability to cut and edit.
  • Love this app, but...

I just recently got the new 12.9 iPad Pro and notability has made it an essential part of my note taking process! However, I have been having a problem with the app crashing or not registering my strokes, so I hope to see an update tailored to this problem on the new iPads.
  • Want to write, this is the app!

Simple, intuitive and fun. This app has helped to throw my paper notebook away. It looks like a paper notebook, when writing feels like one and is superbly simple. No unnecessary complications. Great at handwriting recognition. Well done to the app developers.

I’m a college student and been using this app all semester. And it was working totally fine and then a week before my finals it decided to delete all of my notes every single one of them. I’ve had over 250 notes. I didn’t click anything, didn’t do anything, just when I came back to my iPad to start studying it deleted everything. I contacted the support and they haven’t gotten back to me. There is no phone number to call only emails so the support at Ginger labs (notability) is absolutely horrible. Use Microsoft over this horrible app or you’ll lose all your notes before your finals too!
