  • The worst

    By Not happyyyyyy at all
Quite literally the worst app I have ever used. I’m finally canceling my subscription after YEARS of hoping they’d figure out the bugs. Articles never load and I’m constantly kicked out. Horrible!!!
  • App is still flawed.

    By howizit
Links are hit and miss. When links don’t work the app freezes up. Very frustrating as a paid subscriber. Cmon tribe app developers. Why can’t you fix the broken link problem?
  • Terrible app

    By browndog1959
As another reviewer said, there are many news apps that work well, are easy to use. And then there’s the Tribune. Spinning circles when I have 4 bars and a string WiFi connection, freezes, random crashes, poor layout. Maybe the Tribune should look at the NYT, Washington Post or FT as examples of news apps that work. I’ve never written an app review before but the Teib app infuriated me. I’m a Chicagoan and I use the Tribune to get my news. It’s so bad I might have to switch to the Sun Times.
  • Needs a do-over

    By WK525
I’ve used this for years and it really is one of the worst news apps out there. Ads play even with paid subscriptions (although they usually fail to load in the three seconds or so it forces you to watch them), the interface is clunky, and opening my app inexplicably goes to the Politics section every time and can’t be changed. Can’t tell what the updates are doing either; nothing ever seems to change and the current version actually is less compatible with my iPhone XR than the old one was (e.g., the Tribune logo now partially is cut-off by the notch on my iPhone). If there was any better source for Chicago news I’d use it, but the Sun-Times app is garbage too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • Lousy search ability

    By Jgreen6
Try searching for a story using the author’s name, you get 4 month old stories, nothing current. Not really if any use unless you are looking for yesterday’s front page. Lousy app.
  • More ads than website

    By TheConduitKing
They layout and experience of the app is slightly better than the website. However, there are full screen popover ads that completely degrade the experience. I’m already paying to subscribe: I don’t want to see those.
  • Please Deliver The Content We Pay For!

By Worked before, now not so much
Unfortunately you can’t use this app to experience the Tribune’s outstanding journalism. You can browse their headlines, but stories do not load and the app crashes constantly. We pay for our subscriptions, Chicago Tribune. The least you can do is deliver the content we pay for.

Do not understand why when you pay money you still get ads. And the ads cover the photos in the sports page. Very annoying.
  • How is it even possible to release an app this bad?

    By Fumo
I can't say anything others haven't already. Rediculous. Between the full screen ad on every app start and the fact that articles don't load half the time... Wow. Do you test your own stuff?
  • Update this app!

    By long time metra rider
Agree with other reviewers. Remind the flagship of Chicago print journalism that readers expect an app that is user friendly and actually works. Time to move on to other sources.
