  • What were you thinking - this update is bad

    By Voidman66
Updated: After receiving a developers response indicating that off line reading will be coming back soon I’ve updated my rating to 3 stars. When off line is actually implemented I’ll be giving this a 5 star rating. That’s for our response. ——- Still waiting to be able to view the magazine offline as before... come on folks get it together! ——- Please bring back the prior version or at least fix it so I can read offline... This has been a grave mistake of an update! Fix and I'll change my rating back to five stars.
  • Updated?

Mid June update, no mention or reference of restoring any semblance of previous functionality. But yet we still see “developer responses”. How long do you think you can string us along? Stop the BS... it doesn’t become you... ————- Updated a week ago... no mention of reinstating old functionality. NatGeo has been a mainstay for me, now it’s silage... How many unsubscriptions have you wrought? ——— How many times will we see a “developer response” claiming to be looking into reinstating off-line usage, let alone most content. NGM used to be a worthy magazine, let alone one of the best apps. Time to stop bullshitting your subscribers... No stars (if I could), and I won’t update until I see others reporting that the old magazine format, issue downloads, and off-line access has returned... Developer response... Finally, after months of 1 star reviews! They say they are aware of the inability to download, and are considering the issue. Should we hold our breath? Is this “potential” reversal due to the recent buyout? Somehow I’m not sure I’m comforted by Disney... Time will tell...
  • Terrible

Why, when so many apps work so well, does National Geographic have such a lousy app? I continually have trouble logging on. Downloads disappear.
  • Bring the full magazine back

I check back every few weeks before a trip hoping I can download the magazine cover to cover like before, but it’s still not back. This app is still horrible. Please listen to your readers NG - the ratings and reviews say it all. Previously - This update is horrible and I see others think so as well. I like to read and interact with the issue much like thumbing through the actual print version. I’m traveling this week for the first time in several months and wanted to download a few issues to my iPad as I have always done in the past. I’ve wasted an hour this morning thinking for sure there must be a setting for a print view but I guess not. Please go back Nat Geo. Did you test this app design with any readers?
  • Bait and Switch - DO NOT BUY

Updating for version 3.0.7 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 The full magazine is still not available, do not buy if you want the real National Geographic Magazine, the is only a small subset. Updating for version 3.0.6: Sadly still no option to download the magazine, and I really mean The Magazine, The Yellow Frame as some call it. This app provides articles in the magazine, but you do not get to experience the entire magazine as it is presented in print. That is a real shame since that is all that everyone posting the negative reviews really wants. I know the developer responses state they are evaluating future changes to do that, but it’s about time that a decision is made to either do it or not. Stop stringing us along. Make a decision and we can all move on and decide if this app is really worth it or we should go back to ordering print copies. And if this is really about constraints imposed by Apple, then maybe Apple should chime in and say so. UPDATING FOR VERSION 3.0.5: Still junk, just tried the update hoping for some improvements, but the app can’t connect due to “network connectivity issues” which is a good reason for having offline access to the magazine. But that still doesn’t exist based on other reviews. ******************************** Recent app update removes the capability of offline reading; you cannot download the magazine to your iPad and read it without being connected to the internet. Terrible “reimagined” experience. Did NatGeo inform us of this before renewing for 2019? Of course not because most would not have purchased. I also fault Apple for not putting the most recent reviews first in their store so potential buyers can see the latest reviews rather than seven years ago.

Give us back the offline viewing that you took away.
  • Still missing the magazine

I know the developers have said they’ll look at bringing back offline reading, but I want the original functionality back. I had downloaded all my issues in the hopes of finding time to play all the videos and use all the other interactive content that has since gone away. It’s like someone took my magazine collection to the dump, and I’ll never recover it. I regret putting off reading what I had. I cancelled my automatic renewal. Please make me reconsider.
  • Another update - hopes dashed again

    By JaneDhs
Every time there is an update, I’m hopeful that it Natgeo has come to their senses and reverted the functionality back to the old version that was a print replica that allowed offline downloading. Once again, the same terrible design remains and I get closer to my renewal date any the likelihood of resubscribing approaches zero. I love the magazine but the app has erased 130 years of goodwill.
  • Can the content be downloaded now?

    By Daenzs
Really look forward that the magazine can be downloaded and read offline again. Please make it happen.
