Choose your preferred units (American or metric) and Basil will convert recipes for you. If you're in the UK and save American recipes, Basil will convert all those pesky cups and teaspoons to metric units for you! ◆ Cross off ingredients as you cook, and Basil will turn them gray so your eyes are drawn to the ingredients still left to use. ◆ Take notes! Add your own adjustments and notes to each recipe so you know exactly what to do each time you cook. ORGANIZE ◆ Organizes your recipes for you! Recipes are automatically tagged by ingredients and setting the meal and cuisine type is quick too, so you can do things like see all of your breakfast recipes with bacon, or see your Chinese recipes. No need to spend time making folders! ◆ Filter your recipes by favorites, meal and cuisine types, tags and sources ◆ Browse your recipes by big, beautiful photos! It'll get you inspired to cook (and hungry!). Basil makes it easy to find new recipes with its special quick-search feature, and organizes them for you. Each new recipe is tagged with its main ingredients, and adding cuisine and meal type is a snap. You can find just the recipe you're looking for by sorting according to favorites, cuisine type, meal type, or main ingredients. Or you can just search them, using full-text search. Basil even makes cooking easier. Directions and ingredients are easy to read at a glance, and any time-based directions ("sauté for 5 minutes") are turned into buttons which start a timer, so you don't have to fumble with a separate timer. You can cross off ingredients as you cook, and Basil even converts units for you automatically. Crashes when you try to export. Developer unresponsive. I’m looking for an alternative. Don’t bother with this one.

I have been using this app for years, but recently i have noticed that the one tap save from websites is not working consistently. Specifically from Allrecipes.com. It will build a shell for the recipe but does not pull over ingredients or directions. Very frustrating.
  • Useless and misleading

I paid for the app because it’s supposed to allow importing of existing recipes. The import function doesn’t work and asking Basil Support gets no answers. The app is nothing more than links leading back to saved recipes on specific websites. I’m better off printing and going old school.
  • Needs update

The status messages at the top of the screen are hidden by the notch on iPhone X and XS. Also the add recipe feature no longer works. It imports the picture and name, but the ingredients and directions lists are blank. Very annoying. I’m trying recipes from allrecipes.com and it’s not working. Hoping for a fix soon. Otherwise a great app.
  • Great app. Wish it zoomed in on pics

I love this app… I just wish it would zoom in on pictures… For instance, when I take a picture of a recipe card it stays small… I wish I could use it like a picture and zoom it out to be able to see it better.

This once fabulous recipe app has been abandoned by its author. He left it with export broken, so I will lose years of recipes and photos. Unfortunately, you must avoid this app.

Once a great app, but now buggy no longer updated. I reached out to the dev for help on exporting my hundreds of recipes into a useable file, but never heard back.
  • Warning to others.

App clearly abandoned. Developer active on Twitter, is now actively ignoring users. SAD!
