  • It works for me

Once you figure out to use it as it is designed, using aliases a d busses to economize CPU load, the program is solid. I use it every week for live performance outside with a MacBook Pro 2012. It does not run lights but since when should musicians do a pro lighting job? There are many updates and it seems Apple is trying to keep it working and tweaked. People reporting bugs are not using it correctly or have too many patches open at once. It is not buggy and the latency is low.

  • Mainstage 3.4.1 disaster!

After my computer automatically updated my MainStage version 3.4.0, it has been a disaster to use. There is a large, white circle with an X through it that appears in the background of all the concerts. There are other issues as well. Please fix this problem Apple..its ridiculous when updates are supposed improve the apps, not make them worse!

I LOVED this program before this update. It's VERY buggy, and its hard for me to play my patches for live perfomance now. I hope the developers can fix this soon. However, Mainstage is A GREAT tool for playing all of your created sounds/stems available for the stage. I find it really impressive for the limitless possibilities of how u can set up your virtural rig. This goes for even guitar players, if you're into that sort of thing. I reccomend it for those of you looking to really start somewhere with your ability to perfom sets efficiently, and go through all of your patches, preset with ease.

I was running version 3.3 fine on my old Macbook Air, until it auto-updated to 3.4.0 and then suddenly the CPU was always pegged high. Bought a new 2018 MacBook Pro, installed 3.4.0 and was fine. Until this week, when 3.4.1 came out. I had 3 crashes in a show this weekend - requiring a full OS restart each time. I’m extremely frustrated with the lack of QA in these past few versions. I’m running a brand new hardware, and all that has changed is the Mainstage application (same concerts, patches, library, etc).
  • Plugins for Garageband

If you are looking for a high end performance software, this is not right for you. However, this ports all of its virtual instruments to garageband, including all of the jam packs and logic sounds. If you don't want to shell out the slightly unnecessary $200 for logic, try this for $30.

The quality of soft instruments included in MS is unbelievable for the price point. A generous selection of Logic’s mainstays are included in this almost deceptively simple and graciously streamlined application, and 3rd-party AU plugs round out the offering to bring the stage-performance palette to broad and deep dimensions, while making the parameters most vital instantly accessible. Why someone would take issue with the fact it doesn't also include visual performance features, some VJ-in-a-box presumably, is beyond me. While some of the crazier systems I’ve developed have integrated DMX, video mixing and generative animations, IDLA, and various other formats of data streams into interactive ‘organisms’ that MS couldn’t begin to grasp, it’s a stable and sensible solution to stage performance with soft-instruments and backing tracks. I can’t recall another piece of software that delivers a comparable bang-to-buck in even the same ballpark. If you wish to add visual performance elements to your show, you introduce another machine running that software (like Resolume Arena, VDMX, Touch Designer, Modul8, Max/MSP/Jitter, etc…) and use OSC or MIDI to create the appropriate communication with the sound side (check out IANNIX for ideas and implementations re: expanding the reach of a live show.) I dont know of a reliable professional method that wouldn’t call for separate systems. To expect an audio performance application that retails for <$30.USD to include a full suite of VJ tools is asking a bit much. Mainstage is exceptional at it’s price-point, and for quite a measure beyond it. I've had little-to-zero issues with stability and would trust it in all but the most demanding professional contexts, and possibly even there if given redundancy. Recommend it.

Sobrecarga mi CPU extremadamente, no encuentro que más hacer para evitarlo. Si pudiera, hace tiempo la hubiera devuelto.
