    This app is strangely addictive which I think would contribute to its success. It makes you feel accountable to someone or something when you are eating healthily or when you eat something questionable. I do feel the “meal tracking” portion of the app needs work. I’m a fairly clean eater and when I eat something like “slaw” which is cabbage, carrots, almonds, sunflower seeds, almonds, extra virgin olive oil, lime juice, and vinegar, the feedback implies it was not a great choice and I should try and do better. However it recognizes baba ganoush as a vegetable—eggplant—which it is. But when I have yogurt (grass fed, organic, plain, full fat, raw) it fails to recognize it as a healthy choice. I know the programming knows how to ask questions about the food. For example, when I log coffee, it asks about the amount of sugar in my coffee. So a good adjustment with the slaw example could be....was the dressing oil based or mayo based? Was there a significant amount of vegetables in the slaw? I think the meal portion needs additional programming to be effective. Overall though I feel the app can be very useful!

    If you’ve ever taken a nutrition course or have a nutritionist, then this app isn’t particularly helpful for you. The app basically gives you small, really basic steps for you to take towards a healthy lifestyle. That’s great, but I can get the same information from my nutritionist or from brochures from my primary care provider’s office. It says it’s “personalized” with your 23andme results, which at first attracted me, but really it’s just telling you what your results are.. which you can already do on the 23andme website. It’s interface is easy to use and all you really need to do is check in and tell the app what you’re eating every day. However, I’m already tracking my food on MyFitnessPal (which is free btw), so that wasn’t really useful for me either. I would recommend this to someone who has never sought guidance from a health professional before and has not a single clue what healthy looks like.

    I like the style of the app but my biggest issue is that it doesn’t give me the flexibility to include things like this f I was awake in the night (am often and has a big impact) or if I’m traveling -also am often)...also why I might not be weighing as often and not sleeping well.

    This app is a waste of time. Tells me nothing new. It’s programmed questions, statements, and responses. Why did I grant this access to my genetic and health data??

    I wasn’t notified that they only have weight loss option before paying. It wasn’t really an AI if it’s automatically programmed to say things depending on your food log.

    What I like about this app is that the notifications are timely and useful, not pestering. It’s early in my use of the app, but I wish it asked as part of intake if you are pregnant or nursing. This impacts what healthy eating looks like significantly.
