Add A Little Spice (And Maybe Some Cinnamon Buns) To Your Shower

So, friends, I've finally gotten to the bottom of this "lost my beauty mojo" thing. It's the Fall. All I want to write about is Fall stuff. If I see another eyeshadow palette called "Tahiti" or a contest where I can enter to win a "Hawaiian Dream Date," I'll scream! (Can you tell I've been browsing the Sephora homepage?) Truth is, there's only so much you can say about summer beauty. The main

  • Longtime readers will know that L'Occitane's Amande Shower Oil is one of my all-time favorite beauty products. Moisturizing in the winter, not too greasy in the summer, it's the perfect shower companion. It cleanses, it moisturizes, it gives a fabulous shave, and it smells utterly delicious. I love it so much that I always keep several full-size and travel-size bottles around the house.
  • This Bath & Body Works obsession of mine is really getting out of hand. Last year I made a proclamation that I was no longer going to be a beauty snob who snubs the store. Then, I decided that it would be better for my wallet to let my "impulse buys" happen at BBW instead of the beauty floor at Neiman Marcus. And now I've been sucked in! I can't help it.
  • ...and they're advertising in the subways! I snapped this photo with my Blackberry in an NYC subway station earlier this week. Interesting tactic. How long before it gets scrawled on by teenage boys?
  • It's a pretty good sign, overall, that I had a Top 10 Best for Oscar beauty, and only four in the bad category. Here goes:Reese Witherspoon: Oh dear. Dark blue eyeshadow is one of my all-time favorites, but it can go wrong far too easily. It looks odd with Reese's eye color, it's too matchy-matchy with the dress, and the peach lip color just ruins the whole thing.
  • I have a feeling that Fall might come early to NYC this year, friends. Can you feel it in the air? The nights are breezy and cool, almost sweater weather. And suddenly all those shades of summer are starting to feel a bit stale.
  • OK, Oscar beauty roundup, FINALLY! Woo! In no particular order, here are my Top 10 Oscar Beauties. And of course, Worst of Oscar Beauty is coming up next.Freida Pinto - Just flawless. I don't think this is Freida's home planet, she seriously must be an alien from somewhere prettier. Nothin' else to say.
  • When I'm in the NY office, downtown, I take an express bus home (which is wonderful, by the way, a major upgrade from the subway and regular city buses...and it had better be, since it costs $5). Across the street from the bus stop is an evil, evil Sephora. Why is it evil?
  • Hello? Anybody out there? Well, I wish I could say I'm returning from my hiatus well-rested and with renewed vigor, but phew...I'm still running on all cylinders and feeling completely knackered. BUT! I'm really missing the fun, creative outlet that is Beauty Addict! So... Remember my enthusiastic rave over the Sedu Revolution flat iron? OMG, I loved that thing.
  • I've really got to hand it to Old Spice. Their commercials these days are just KILLING it. Remember that great Neil Patrick Harris spot from earlier this summer? "As a former make-believe doctor..." Loved it! Now Old Spice has somehow managed to take a product that's essentially a boys' version of Olay Body Wash with moisturizing Ribbons, and make it appealing to men.

  • Uggghhh. I have totally been ignoring the new MAC collections, which is probably reason enough to strip me of my beauty blogger badge (does such a thing exist?).
  • NARS-branded condoms? Believe it! What do emblematic couture techniques have to do with mascara? I don't know, either. One more reason to be thankful for Target. My favorite products that are just too pretty to pass up. The Bath & Body Works obsession continues with a delicious massage oil and some adorable little lambs. This full-loaded Bobbi Brown beauty trunk has me wishing for a sugar daddy!
