Holiday to Work Outfit

After regressing a bit with the non-shopping, I've been trying to will myself into returning that J Crew coat I got on that spree. So far, no luck. Although I was able to return half of the stuff I got, I wasn't able to convince myself to return some of the other items, including a cashmere sweater and this sweater dress:

Banana Republic cowlneck knit dress - $59.99 (down from $110)

I tried for a few weeks to rationalize that I needed to return some more stuff. I left all my clothes laid out on my couch as a reminder that I needed to decide on keeping or returning anything else. After admitting to myself that this baby wasn't going back to the store, I clipped the tags and wore this dress to my family's Christmas dinner. I also got to wear this earlier this week (Wednesday) to work. I love a great versatile clothes-item. It gives me more reason to keep it! Ha!

  • You guys know how infatuated I am with Banana Republic, so it brings me great pleasure to announce that BR will be having the most amazing, upcoming sale!
  • I've long been a fan of layers - especially cardigans - since I get cold rather easily. So, you can imagine how happy I was to hear that cardigans were "in" for this season.
  • Sorry for my non-posting, but my fashion + shopping self needs a bit of a jump start. I'm hoping now that my credit card is paid off and I'm shopping (carefully, of course) again, that the love of clothes will return.

In the meantime, I haven't been sharing many outfit posts because lately my outfits are usually pretty basic (read boring) office wear outfits, like this:
  • So, I've been super good about not shopping lately...at least, that was until I ventured out to the mall to get some stuff for hubby this past weekend. While I was out, I figured I'd take a quick peek at some stuff in my fave stores and would ya know it...a quick peek turned into a weekend-long shopping spree.
  • I went over to a friend's place to have a casual dinner - pizza, salads, snacks, and yummy banana pudding for dessert (thanks Michelle!). I tend to overdress for these kinds of things, so tonight, I tried really hard to keep my look casual while still looking chic.
  • I have been saying for the last couple years (read forever) that I want a nice, sleek pair of leather gloves to wear during the cooler weather months. I often have to walk a couple blocks from my car to my office, which makes it extra important to bundle up and block out all those chilly, winter gusts of air.
  • My dress code at work is business casual and my fave article of clothing for such a dress code is the cardigan - the ultimate layering essential, IMO.

This one by Gap is so cute - especially those little buttons on the cuffs!
  • Wish I had a better picture of this outfit but it will have to do. I rarely wear this skirt because the top of it is itchy. Ick! But, but the easy solution is wearing an undershirt to tuck into the top of the skirt so the itchy top doesn't touch my skin.
  • So...I haven't been shopping. Not. At. All. Not really in stores and not really online, save an occasional browse or pass-through. I'm trying to save money for other things (like our new house) and can't really put money towards clothes - ESPECIALLY not when I already have so much I can barely contain it all!
  • They recently changed the work dress code so I can now wear khakis! I'm super excited because I love to rock my khakis and now I can wear them a lot more...not to mention there have been a lot of fab khaki outfits in the latest J Crew catalogs.

    Here are my faves:
  • We are allowed to wear pretty much whatever we want to work, so long as we're not at a client site. Since I just rolled off of a project in corporate banking (with a very formal dress code), I am taking full advantage of my company's dress code.
  • ...because sometimes you just feel like wearing a t-shirt and jeans (slightly dressed up to be work appropriate)
  • Gah! I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted. Some of you who read my other blog know that I recently moved from an apartment to our first house...yippee! Things have been pretty crazy since the move.
