Opa!

I am quite literally jumping for joy right now. My visa has arrived and everything is official--I am studying abroad this fall. I fly on the 22nd (so soon!)...to Greece! Ah yes, this is going to be good. In regards to that, I'm not certain what will become of the blog. I will continue blogging, but will probably be more erratic, especially during the first few weeks. In addition, the subject matter might switch to more of a focus on what I'm seeing and doing rather than fashion in general. This is what I hope to be seeing. Pictures from here. Now, I'm going to go make some celebratory tzatziki and practice packing light...Outfit details: shirt- Banana Republic Outlet, vest- Forever 21, skirt- Forever 21, bag- secondhand, shoes- Urban Outfitters

  • I have some pictures to share from my first official day in Athens. We went to an area called Syntagma Square (correct me if I don't spell something correctly!) which has a number of shops and some good places to eat. My first official and completely delicious gyros in Greece was consumed here. I can still feel the party in my mouth...
  • I should be throwing some last things into my suitcase to prepare for a friend who is driving me to the airport in 20 minutes. Yikes! But like a true addict, I just wanted to throw one post out before I depart. These pictures were taken at the community garden on my campus. Students choose what to plant and then work in it year round. Now our cafeteria actually purchases some of their produce.

  • I went up for another bit of hike on "the mountain" (Mt. Rainier) since my sister has come to visit us here for a little while. We had gloriously perfect weather and the sky was brilliant, so this time around we could see the peak while on our walks. I really enjoy the variety of scenery you can see: meadows filled with wildflowers, canyons, waterfalls, rocky peaks, etc.
  • I'm back to my hair fancies addiction. Winter really offers the oppurtunity to express your whismy on your legs and your head. Layered and unique stockings transform limbs into quirky storybook characters with personalities all their own. While the necessity to stay warm has led to numerous creations for the head; intent upon more than just locking your body heat in.
  • I have been borrowing my father's tripod lately. The tripod was bought (along with a 35 mm camera I am also in the habit of using) several years before I was born. It's rather fascinating to use a tool that is older than I am...
  • Nasha has been swept away by seasonal bliss. Between sparkling white grounds coated in a fine crystalline dust and twinkling, colorful lights the world seems transformed into some fairytale vistage of beauty. Being a very young Labbit, this is her first Christmas and her first snow. Although Christmas day is still many days away, putting Nasha to bed every night is a burden.
  • The last couple of days have quietly passed away in Athens. I have done so much traveling since my arrival here that it is nice to slowly savor the city that will be my home for the next few months. I have acquainted myself with some of the major shopping streets, befriended the local pigeons, and tasted enough Leonidas chocolates to rot my teeth.
  • I am usually a very steadfast individual, however I must confess to a fickle heart. My loves and passions (in regards to accessories) are quite frequent and fleeting. In this moment, it is quite easy to name the love of my life: a new pair of black shoes that lace at the ankle to embrace my foot. With a firm grasp clasp me tight and I feel my feet rise off the ground.

  • I went to the mall yesterday. The highway we drove on was flooded from the melting snow and recent rainfall. We passed what seemed like ponds where once there were fields. Two lanes of the highway were closed to cars and open for the fishes. The world turns upside down and topsy-turvy and we drive on.
