Food For Your Thoughts

I think I'm going to roll out of Athens weighing twice as much as I did when I first came and if so, the culprit will definitely be Leonidas chocolates. I walk past the store every day on the way to class and nearly every day I stop in to try a different treat and pilfer from the sample dish. Lately, I seem live off a diet of white chocolate and fruit--my roommates might be getting concerned...

  • I should be throwing some last things into my suitcase to prepare for a friend who is driving me to the airport in 20 minutes. Yikes! But like a true addict, I just wanted to throw one post out before I depart. These pictures were taken at the community garden on my campus. • The last couple of days have quietly passed away in Athens. I have done so much traveling since my arrival here that it is nice to slowly savor the city that will be my home for the next few months. I have acquainted myself with some of the major shopping streets, befriended the local pigeons, and tasted enough Leonidas chocolates to rot my teeth.
  • Athens might be a dearth as far as thrift and vintage shops are concerned (if you know better, please point me in the correct direction), however near the fruit market we frequent we stumbled across what was promised to us as "the best flea market in Athens." Through ancient doors crammed with oddities and up a spiraling decrepit staircase to a sprawling floor packed with curiosities we wander.
  • I went up for another bit of hike on "the mountain" (Mt. Rainier) since my sister has come to visit us here for a little while. We had gloriously perfect weather and the sky was brilliant, so this time around we could see the peak while on our walks. I really enjoy the variety of scenery you can see: meadows filled with wildflowers, canyons, waterfalls, rocky peaks, etc.
  • I am usually a very steadfast individual, however I must confess to a fickle heart. My loves and passions (in regards to accessories) are quite frequent and fleeting. In this moment, it is quite easy to name the love of my life: a new pair of black shoes that lace at the ankle to embrace my foot. With a firm grasp clasp me tight and I feel my feet rise off the ground.

  • Nasha has been swept away by seasonal bliss. Between sparkling white grounds coated in a fine crystalline dust and twinkling, colorful lights the world seems transformed into some fairytale vistage of beauty. • Flakes swirl thick and white past the window, more like a swarm of angry bees than delicate pieces of ice. In a fury they seem to fall swift and fast, intent upon mastering the ground. They cover every possible inch, determined to leave no sign of life or patch of green exposed.
