Red was my favorite color a few years ago but now I hardly ever wear it. For a while I didn't even like it, but I'm slowly warming up to it again, and when I re-discovered this old skirt in my closet a few days ago (amazing how many things you can dig up in a messy closet!) I knew I'd have to give red another chance. This post on All The Pretty Birds inspired me to copy Katie Grand and pair the red skirt with a black and white striped shirt that I don't wear nearly enough. Then I finally got out this bag I bought on Etsy a few weeks back . . . it was orginally from Brooks Brothers, and is extra simple and kind of reminds me of an A.P.C. one. Plus I'm wearing a watch that isn't an extra delicate, '30s, non-working one! Drew got me this one, and it's a simple brown leather Timex that may be exactly like one I got for Christmas as a kid, right down to the green indiglo lit-up face! Drew and I were just talking about childhood watches . . . he always had digital watches, but I always had the old-fashioned analogs, probably because I needed all the time-telling practice I could get. I'm still pretty bad at it.
Anyhow it's raining as I'm writing this post, and the rain is nice now when it's nighttime and Silent Sunday is on the tv and I don't have to drive anywhere, but this weekend all the cloudy skies just made us feel gloomy. At least it didn't really rain too much yesterday when we went to Grant Park for blog photos . . . I'd never been there before. It's an 1800s park with stone staircases and a few dried-out fountains and lots of trees and paths. There is also a zoo there and the Cyclorama building, which supposedly houses a huge revolving painting that shows the Civil War Battle of Atlanta. I will go see it one of these days, just like the Margaret Mitchell House that I still have to visit. I have plenty of things I want to do once it gets warm. But cold, rainy weather is so much nicer for reading magazines at Borders and shopping (but not buying) and gathering up inspiration for the warm weather once it finally gets here.
