Hey Old Friend

So - I haven't updated in a while because I have a ton of awesome San Francisco pictures that... I can't upload until I find the thingy that connects my camera to my Mac! Oh la la!

Excuses, excuses. I know.

Anyway, to get a BIT caught up, in the past few weeks I've:

gone to San Francisco to visit sis, reconnected with old friends, gotten a new job at a place I've always liked, slept a lot, read a lot, started wayyy more crosswords than I've finished, cleaned four years of grime out of the apartment - don't worry, there's still a LOT more, fantasized about going to Target, logged an obscene amount of time on the phone, broken a few of The Ten Commandments, seen Wall-E, eaten a lot of hummus and watermelon, tended to the tarragon, hung pictures, read a lot about sex (it's a pleasure akin to flipping through cookbooks), bought presents, and...

TURNED ON THE AIR CONDITIONING. I did it yesterday. I was vacuuming up COPIOUS amounts of cat hair and then I decided to take the rugs outside and beat them. When I came back, I decided it was time to do something about the heat. Because... I didn't exactly want to mop the apartment with my own sweat.

So, now I'm fiddling around with the temperature because the number that seems reasonable on the thermostat feels frigid.

I can't wait to share the SF photos with you (yes, YOU specifically, fillintheblank). And maybe I'll take some of the apartment so that N won't feel so homesick. You better rest up, gina, I have a whole list of chores I'm saving for the two of us to do together. Maybe I'll post it later.

Now - I woke up two hours ago and I've miles to go before I sleep again so I'll leave you with something to think about...

Your friends. Just... think about them. Maybe call someone you haven't talked to for a while. Maybe hang out with an acquaintance that intrigues you, but that you wouldn't yet call a friend.

I highly encourage you to read this in its entirety. In case you don't, (asshole), here's a nugget from Emerson:

A chief event of life is the day in which we have encountered a mind that startled us.

  • I forgot to update that we have nabbed a gorgeous apartment for our first two months. Since officially we cannot rent a place without a job, we scoured craigslist et al and were bombarded with scammers, who we had a lot of fun with. We decided we'd need to crash in a hostel/hotel or a short-term apartment and we resigned ourselves to the expense of it all.

  • Hi, dearies,

I've been busy feathering my new nest and wrapping up the last class of summer. (And suffering from a very, very bad cold.)

But... as July and August lope on, my readers might be asking themselves:

    Wasn't she going to Salzburg?
Wasn't she going to learn how to surf?
and How is She Ever Going to Get into Grad School?

  • So some of you may have noticed that I haven't blogged in the past two weeks. The truth is, we just graduated from University this July and the demands of the real world is taking its toll on us.
  • The reason I haven't posted in a few days is that I just moved into a new apartment - one that is almost twice the size of my old one (yay!). Of course, that means I have significantly more room to decorate and the furniture and such from my old place is much more spread out - which means there is room for new stuff!
