Louis Vuitton

Untitled-2

If you'd told me that the Louis Vuitton show was going to end up being my favorite of the season I'd have probably told you you were off your rocker. I guess it ends up making sense seeing that Marc Jacobs is the mind behind it all and I'm usually a fan of his work. I just typically like the Marc by Marc Jacobs best and was taken by surprise at just how much I like the Louis Vuitton this time around. The prim skirt length is especially refreshing and something I'm excited to experiment with more. That "below the knee" thing can be quite tricky to pull off. Definitely saving these looks as a reference when I'm stuck.

A couple of things I noticed were lots of longer skirt lengths and lots of socks with sandals/oxford combos. Both are things that I liked! Here are my favorites. Did I miss anything great?
  • Random fact of the day: The founder of Gucci was called Guccio Gucci. I've never really understood what attracts people to monogrammed bags in ugly colours, the one thing I do understand, however, is that the same people that tote Gucci monogram bags are often seen with Louis Vuitton ones as well.

  • Up to now, my favourite and most trust-worthy going-out handbag is a small Vuitton Vernis pouch. While I'm not big on monograms, I do think that the monogram on Vernis isn't as obvious or popular as the typical tan-coloured monograms.

  • I have a confession. I have a mild love affair with all things plaid. And even though Marc's Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall/08 collection wasn't all plaid in its entirety, the plaid-ness that was displayed in his show really moved me.

  • Now that Tom has gone back to school (as a professor, not a student!) I'm back to the old tripod for blog photos for the most part. The other day when I was setting up to take a few shots I had the hardest time positioning everything so that the shadow of the tripod wasn't showing up in every photo.
