Along with my news comes the instant outfit inspired by the travels ahead. To reach New York in time to catch the Fashion Week rush - I will be heading out on a RED EYE non-stop flight.

Los Angeles to New York!

As we grow up, people come into our lives that influence and give us important instruction: our parents, teachers, role models, etc. We look to them for wisdom and understanding. If we are struggling with a situation or question we go to them to hear their voice of reason. They pass on their Life Lessons.

A society girl out there requested that my instant outfit this week be focused on the latest trend - TARTAN - I was more than happy to oblige. These days, tartan is not just for your scottish family reunion, it can be worn just about anytime and anywhere. There are tartan dresses, tartan bags, tartan hats and tartan coats. The list could go on and on - so why not give it a try!

"I pledge allegiance to the United States of America..." stars, stripes - red, white and blue!

Spring looks to be very patriotic with references to the big USA everywhere. Taking a hint from the grand 'ole flag, the collections were focused on those red and white STRIPES.

I am in a sauna. That's right, I am here in the good ole south experiencing the wonderful humidity. But oh how fabulous it is to hear the crickets at night, feel the balmy wind on my face and see the stars clear as a bell when I look up into the night sky. THE SOUTH!!!!

On to the next trend: "So Eighties"

The Quiksilver Sponsorship officially launches next week with a grand 'ole party and that means The Vintage Society has been bustling with activity.

The Society Swap was a grand success - girls came with what they considered trash and left with new treasures!

A plaid shirt is classic. It seems every fall season includes at least one version of a plaid shirt, and though it looks a little "hill-billy" the shirt can be worn oh-so-chic.

The instant outfit this week displays two ways to rock this look. For work or for play...

A peek inside The Vintage Society party for all who weren’t able to attend. The evening was just about perfection - the only glitch being the ridiculous heat wave we were experiencing in Los Angeles. Other than that, it was a blast meeting many Society Girls who came out to celebrate- thanks for joining me!

Now I know I said I have been enamored with the “Frosting Side of Fashion” with all its ruffles and romance.. but I also have to say I am drawn to the menswear inspired clothes popping up in the fall season.

A thought that has been surfacing over and over again in my mind is the idea sparked by one of our most recent Society Girl's - Arden Wohl. She has a clear trademark with her multitude of eccentric headpieces.
