I never really liked school. I don't get too sentimental about it and I'm so glad that I graduated long ago, but I suppose if there's one thing I do miss about going to school it's getting to shop for a new Fall wardrobe, complete with sweaters and new dresses and brand new pairs of shoes. And the first day of school, when everybody wears their newest outfit to show off.
I love how proud the grade school and high school students look in these old Flickr photos, most of the kids all done up for picture day. You can just tell how happy they are with their shiny new saddle shoes (I had them as a kid too!) and fresh white socks and little cardigans that were probably knit over the summer for them by their mothers.
But if I have to choose a favorite photo I'm going to go with the first, if only because of the little 1940s dress and oxford combination that I'm wanting to try out this Fall, along with that cardigan I've been slowly knitting. I only have 2 more sleeves until I'm done!
