After World War I, hemlines had risen rapidly. By the mid-1920s, dresses worn by young "flappers" were often above the knee which was only allowed by the abandonment of the constraining corsetry of Victorian and Edwardian times.

If you are in the least bit familiar with the history of fashion then you know who Mary Quant is. The English fashion designer, is one of the few who took credit for inventing the miniskirt and hot pants in the 60's. Mary Quant named the miniskirt after her favorite car, the Mini.

H&M's next special collaboration is straight outta Helsinki - Finnish textile and design firm Marimekko, best known for their vivid prints, is creating that a collection that will be available in stores in April 2008.

When I think San Francisco music, I think Joplin. I came across some great quotes by Janis talking about her style, I'd figure I would share, they are witty and fun. These are credited to her website.

It's always interesting to see a revival of an old line. Here's a look into Biba, circa 60's, the height of it's fame and the 2006 revival. (I know a little late, but better than never)

One of the models of the 60's, Penelope Tree, was little less known than say Twiggy or Jean Shrimpton but in 2000 Vanity Fair named her one of the "It Girls" of the 21st century, having a certian je ne se qouis about her.
