I felt so bad for not posting yesterday, it's almost funny. It's been a crazy couple of days in Tennessee, getting ready for my little sister's wedding. I had no idea weddings were so much work, and I have no room to talk because I've hardly done any of it, but the tiny bit of helping and rehearsing and party-attending I've done has left me absolutely exhausted at 10:00 PM, Halloween night. No costume parties here, sadly. Just planning on how I'll do my hair tomorrow. I made a feather headband to wear, but my mom gave me this 1920s hair comb yesterday and I just might have to try a silent film star look. Especially since those D.W. Griffith Biograph shorts have been pretty much my biggest fashion/beauty inspiration of the last few weeks. There's this one especially--it's called "The Mothering Heart" (I think--I'm too tired/lazy to look it up or link it right now) and it stars Lillian Gish, and there's this amazing scene where her baby dies and she gets so upset that she wanders off into a beautiful rose garden and poses for a sad, long closeup. Then she suddenly picks up a great big stick and starts beating the petals off the rosebushes, and all of this has nothing to do with fancy 1920s hair combs, but I think it has the sort of feel that I want to try to pull off. By all that I basically just mean that I want Lillian's pulled up but messy, frizzy silent film hairstyle. Not really the crazy rosebush-beating part, even though it made me like her a bunch more.
