The Weigh Down Workshop

I’ve been coming across a lot of diets lately and The Weigh Down Diet is getting a lot of press due to this article on CNN. If I am not mistaken, I’ve seen this same diet featured on the Tyra Banks show a few months ago. The Weigh Down Workshop is a faith-based program started by Gwen Shamblin over 15 years ago.
From the press I have seen, a lot of people have had positive results from following the program. I think any type of positive reinforcement will help anyone who is struggling to lose weight. I can’t say for sure how this diet works but it looks like it teaches portion control and when you need help, you turn to God as well as having the support of other members.
According to the couple in the CNN article, it is a lifestyle change, which most weight-loss programs claim to be. It’s not all that easy either. Like any type of diet, it requires discipline:
Perseverance is most important. If you mess up, especially in the beginning you’re going to slip. Don’t say, “I’ll start over Monday.” Start over right now. The worst enemy is if you give up. [Source: CNN]
Before starting any type of weight loss or nutrition program, it is wise to do further research and seek guidance from your doctor. What works for some may not and work for others.
